Introduction
I’ve been looking for a blog that conglomerates the thoughts of a 20-something woman with as much PASSION and ZEST for life as I do. While there have been numerous blogs that caught my attention, I have yet to find that one “go to” blog that I can go to each night and includes (or at least links to) all the different topics that I’m interested in. So I’ve decided, why not write my own blog? One that can include all the things I want and more. I can share the way I see the world and also learn along the way from my readers. So welcome to Island meets City!
My idea of a great blog is something fun and interesting, and basically tells a good story. For me, nothing is worth telling if it doesn’t leave a person thinking or feeling some sort of emotion.
Let me introduce myself, my names Lariana, and at a young age I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease. I’ve been re-diagnosed 5 times since then and this year I turned 22. Due to my medical condition, I’ve had to go through a lot of ups and downs. At the moment I’m going through some challenging decisions about life and work. So while this is happening, I hope you’ll find this blog as therapeutic as it will be for me. I have countless experiences in the hospital field and not as a practitioner. However, I like to think this doesn’t fully define me so I’ll continue…
I’ve graduated from a Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management, and also completed courses in Mass Communications. I have a passion for all things TRAVEL AND TOURISM , so expect a few entries about these topics. I’ve been lucky to have traveled all around the world in my younger years and have experienced living overseas, making me feel like a citizen of the world. I grew up on the Gold Coast, Australia, but have also lived in the Philippines for several years during my teen years. Traveling in between the islands and the city has given me a unique perspective in life, thus the reason why this blogsite is called ‘Island Meets City’. I have an advanced scuba diving license with PADI and pretty much love all things BEACHY, I love colorful clothes, barefoot adventures and swimming in the ocean. The other side of me, is my city side, I’ve lived in some beautiful cities around the world when I was younger including Vienna, Austria. I’m like any other 20something year old having to go through the motions of post graduation, working in some of the best and worst jobs and learning to find myself along the way
So what to look forward to from this blog?
A mixture of things, fun & simple entries in my FEEL GOOD blog section such as ‘how to dance the night away in high heels – and not feel like your feet are going to break off by the end of the night’ or ‘home foot scrubs’ to subjects that I hold a little closer to heart such as HEALTH & FITNESS with topics like ‘pain management in your teens’ and all about autoimmune blood tests’, to other blog sections which you see at the top of my website, these topics being things I’m passionate about like music and entries about songwriting. I love singing and playing piano, so be sure to check out my MUSIC page to see all my latest covers.
LOVE & FAMILY is also really important to me. You’ll find all kinds of articles that might help you when it comes to adding a bit of romance to your life or maybe you’ll like the family-oriented articles I write which will help remind you how lucky we all are to have our families – in all shapes and forms, modern families
My ultimate goal for IslandMeetsCity is that for you, the reader, to leave each entry, feeling light, happy, inspired with opinions and questions – “live life passionately” is my motto. Feel free to look around while you’re here and drop a few comments. And if you’re a bookworm like me, check out the GOOD READING on the site, it would awesome to get some new book recommendations.
I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading. If ever you need me or want to make suggestions, comments, or share your story personally, feel free to email me: Lariana@islandmeetscity.com I love reading emails! xoxo
