Hi all! Today I decided to be a bit more open about my current situation. As you know for Bridal Bootcamp I’ve been sharing all the interesting and helpful info to help lose that extra weight, and become the glowing, beautiful bride we all dream ourselves to be on that special day. I am proud to say that since I started this journey I have lost 8kgs so far. I started out at 73kg, feeling lethargic, negative about my self-image and just plain unmotivated. It’s been about a month now, and I am now at 65kg and can already see my shape coming back. Not sure if you know this but I’m 5’2” and my healthy weight has already been in the 50s. I would like to aim for around 55kg or less, but I’ve learnt now that it’s not the weight that matters, but how I feel inside, how toned I am (coz muscles can count as weight too) and how much more energy I have. After all that’s been happening in my life and all these new revelations,I believe it’s time to give myself a beauty day.
What is a beauty day, you ask? It’s a day dedicated to pampering not only your outer beauty but your soul beauty. I got this idea from Dr. Oz, see below in the references for a copy of his beauty day pdf. It’s a day to rejuvenate, reflect and re-invigorate. I’m so excited to share with you guys my beauty day.
So the day started like any other, I woke up at 7.30am and did an FBW (fat-burning workout) which basically means worked out (sweated like crazy) for about 45mins before brekky. I did mine on a cross trainer, adding intervals after the first 10minutes (If you’d like more info about this I’ll be happy to help). I am really into clean eating and inspired by Tosca Reno. I am not really into diets, but more about being more aware, I absolutely love the book “you are what you eat” which educates the link between food and your body. I love organic, wholesome food that truly nourishes you and helps your body heal and grow.
Note: I’m still pretty chuchub but I’m half way there and starting to feel good about myself again which is has been really hard. But I remain positive and set on my goals and so can you! 🙂

You can see on this post, the first piccy when I first started this journey (May 15) I was wearing the same thing as I am today in this pic (June 22) I think I can already see a difference so I’m happy that my hardwork is going somewhere hehe
So feeling absolutely pumped after that (note: I do not have brekky before an FBW) I then got onto taking my morning Vitamins – Flaxseed Oil, Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin B (Sorry if I get you confused here, below all this explanation I outline my day so don’t fret). Then I took a tablespoon of Metamucil (Psyillium Husk Fibre, you can read more about this in an upcoming blog I have, I absolutely love this stuff, it has so many benefits for your body!) and dilute this in a large glass of water.
Next, it’s time to feel fresh and new again. I have a nice, warm shower (it’s absolutely freezing here as it is winter at the moment so I have it really hot) and I use a body scrub (I only scrub about twice a week, so on normal days just use a nice smelling but organic body wash) and a facial scrub to unclog those pores. And as always the usual morning shower routine, brush teeth, shampoo and condition hair, and feminine wash. After the shower, as it’s “beauty day” I use a facial mask, as you might notice the product I use can also be used as a cleanser, so instead of just washing it off straight away I leave it on for 5minutes. After washing this off, time for toner with cotton balls, some acne cream and then a moisturizer.
Then to feel extra special, I use a nice body butter and moisturizer to get my skin feeling softer, moisturized and warmer!
Here’s one of my fav parts of the day, I treat myself to wearing for the rest of the day as I get ready, a fluffy bathrobe and some fluffy ugg boots.
As I wait for my hair to dry, I feel even more like a princess for a day, as my hubby prepares me my fav breakfast (only for special occassions, I think beauty day warrants this) he makes me French Toast and I love it! What’s your fav brekky?
It’s now just before lunch, and I already feel much more relaxed. But it’s time to go even deeper with a 20-30minute meditation/deep breathing exercise. You can choose any you like, there are hundreds of CDs or files on iTunes you can pick from. I chose, Paul McKenna’s “Eyes Closed – Deep Relaxation” which goes for about 25 minutes. I felt like I was falling asleep it was that relaxing! Love Paul McKenna hehe.
Okies, so my hair is still drying (might take longer for you guys as you might be in a warmer climate at the moment). So I do two soul-loving things: 1. Hug a Loved one (big hugs with hubby) and 2. Call a loved one (I called my sister and my Mama just happened to be there also, so score! two in one!) Do things that make you happy, make you feel closed to your loved ones whoever they may be.
It’s now lunchtime, I have a light lunch, some leftover soup from last night’s dinner (Pumpkin and Lentil soup) and a slice of rye bread with a large glass of water! Ooh forgot to add, don’t forget to drink lots of water on your beauty day! Aim for 3L a day usually, and today treat yourself to some really nice herbal teas like Peppermint and Jasmine).
My beauty day won’t last as long as Dr. Oz’s one as I have a fam BBQ (barbeque) to go this afternoon at 3pm hehe.
So for the afternoon I curled my hair (only took about 30mins), did some light make up (but took my time) and did my nails hehehe. Don’t ya just love being a girl? hehe I was dancing around while doing my hair, make up and nails to some fun music with the latest hits by Jessie J, Karmin and Guy Sebastian.
Nails – Hot Orange! I’m not really wearing anything colorful today and anyone who knows me knows I LOVE colorful stuff! here’s a pic of my nails 😀
This is just a simple beauty day for when you have other things on and just want to fit it in with a semi-normal day off from work or school or any other appointments. Here’s some other ideas of things you can do on your beauty day, make it your own!
- Make your exercise time even more leisurely with an hour Swimming at the Pool, great exercise and it’s also so refreshing
- Take meditation to the next level if you’ve got more time, and do some Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong, whether in a class or at home with a DVD, you will feel fabulous afterwards and that inner calm will spread even further throughout your body and throughout the day
- When doing your nails, go that step further and have a Foot Spa complete with foot scrub and your own foot massage
- If you really want to splurge, go get your Hair, Make Up and/or Nails done by a professional! It’s cheap, quick and fun to do it by yourself, but for some true pampering how awesome if you could splurge on someone else doing it for you. Just sit back, relax and let the beauty evolve within and out of you hehe
- Ooh this next idea, I absolutely love! On my next Beauty Day I shall do this – get a Massage! Go to your local massage therapist, or somehow convince a loved one (hehe like your partner) to treat you to a massage! Talk about pampering 😛
- How about a Warm Bubble Bathinstead of a shower? just add some beautiful smelling bath salts and soak your worries away! Don’t forget to light some candles, throw some flower petals on top and have a cup of herbal tea nearby to make this a real treat!
