How to dress your body shape

Posted by: Camille, July 8, 2012

I found Trinny & Susannah’s Book at the local library and I am absolutely loving it so far! I’m a firm believer that we are all equally beautiful in our own way and this book re-asserts this notion, by saying you too can feel sexy and confident, and it’s not by being a size 2. It’s about knowing your body shape and dressing it to highlight you assets, and hide your not so flattering areas. You’ve gotta love being female! The book also points out that sometimes the fashion and style choices we make are actually working against our assets – no we don’t want that do we!

Which one are you?

Like I said, you don’t need to be a size 2 – so forget your size! We’re here to talk about body shapes! Trinny and Susannah outlined 12 in their book. What do you think you are? When you find out you can read online and in the books some tips on how to better understand your proportions and dress stylishly and confidently to flatter your figure. We are all different, it’s time to embrace your assets! Here’s a basic guide to the shapes, pics courtesy of The Daily Mail and of course, the original book itself.

COLUMN: Slight waist, long legs, same width shoulders and hips. e.g. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Fonda & Nicole Kidman
BELL: Small shoulders, small tits, small and short waist, big thighs and bottom e.g. Hillary Clinton

APPLE: Average tits, bigger tummy, flat bum, OK legs. e.g. Jo Brand, Kathy Bates & Beth Ditto.
HOURGLASS: Big tits, small and short waist, big hips, generous thighs. e.g. Nigella Lawson, Salma Hayek & Charlotte Church

CORNET: Broad shoulders, small boobs, no waist, slim hips and long, slim legs. e.g. Elle MacPherson, Cameron Diaz & Naomi Campbell
LOLLIPOP:
Big tits, slight waist, slim hips, long legs. e.g. Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman & Susan Sarandon

GOBLET: Broad shoulders, big boobs, no waist, narrow hips, long legs. e.g. Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta Jones & Jessica Lange
CELLO: Big boobs, hip, bottom, and thighs, short waist, slim lower legs. e.g. Serena Williams, Oprah, Kirstie Allie

PEAR: Small tits, long waist, Flat tummy, saddlebags, heavy legs. e.g. Shakira, Katie Holmes & America Ferrera
BRICK: Broad shoulders, no waist, average tummy, flat bum, chunky thighs and calves. e.g. Judi Dench & Kim Cattrall

SKITTLE: Average tits, slim waist, OK tummy, big thighs, chunky calves. e.g. Halle Barry, Sharon Osbourne & Meryl Streep
VASE: Big tits, gently curving longer waist, hips to match top half, slim thighs and legs. e.g. Kate Winslet, Kelly Brook & Geena Davis

It’s time to get your sexy back – whatever shape you are!
